Product Description

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) is a broad class of chemicals molecules of which contain at least one, but typically 2-20 atoms of carbon and at least a few atoms of hydrogen.

In indoor environment, VOC’s are typically represented by hygiene products (perfume, nail polishers and other), technical solvents (glue, paint thinners), and vapours emitted by synthetic materials (carpets, furniture, and some wall insulations).

Concentration of VOC at 0.06-0.1 mg/m3 is typical for outdoor air in Canada. At this concentration, VOC’s can be unnoticeable.

Above 0.3 mg/m3 of air some solvents can be detected by they odours. In several countries 0.3 - 0.6 mg/m3 were adopted as an IAQ standard.

At 3 mg/m3 smell can become annoying, and air quality often described as “stale air”.

The sampling kit includes: 1 diffusive sampler, 1 shipping container, 1 sampling instruction, 1 chain of custody form. It takes 3-5 days to collect a representative sample. Please order online.

The sampler, which we will provide to you, employs gas permeation technique. The sampling is very straightforward and does not require special training.
